Windows on Itanium also provided for hot-patching, in an even simpler way microsoft.com
Windows hot-patching on Itanium involved overwriting the first instruction bundle with a `nop` and a `brl.cond.sptk target64` instruction. This was simpler than x86 due to Itanium's fixed-size instruction bundles and a direct 64-bit long branch instruction.

Why is there no Windows hot-patching support for other architectures like 32-bit ARM and MIPS?microsoft.com
Windows hot-patching supports x86 and 64-bit ARM, but not older architectures like MIPS because they predate the feature. 32-bit ARM lacks support because hot-patching is a Windows Server feature, and no 32-bit ARM Windows Server existed.
